The Monitor model 2400 is designed to heat up to 2,000 square feet of floor space on 2 gallons or less of kerosene per day, according to the manufacturer. The direct-vent outlet is 2-1/2" in diameter. (A smaller version, the Monitor 2200, is rated for up to 1,000 square feet and runs on 1.5 gallons or less per day.)

The 2400 has a heat output of 37,200 BTUs per hour on its high setting, 13,600 BTUs per hour on the low setting. Fuel consumption ranges between .319 gallons and .12 gallons per hour, and the heaters also can run on No. 1 low-sulfur stove oil. A blower delivers up to 388 cubic feet of air per minute.

The 82-lb. heater is 26" high, 29" wide and 14" deep. In October 2004, it cost about $1,500; the Model 2200 was about $1,400.
