Lift up the skirt on your couch and you may notice square head screws, as furniture manufacturers have been using them for years. The squared recessed head provides maximum torque and is less likely to cause "cam out" (slip out of the screw slot), says the manufacturer.
Ideal for hardwoods, the square head screw started life in Canada in 1908. This Super-Sortment Chest has a locking bar (to prevent 52-screw pick-up). The backside has slotted holes for wall mounting. The chest contains 1,040 screws of assorted sizes.
