Stoves: Coal comfort

Rosemary Thornton, contributing editor
Victorian charmerThis Pioneer TV stove is a hot item in more ways than one. This 237-pound coal stove produces up to 90,000 BTUs and can be vented without a chimney.

The etched glass window trimmed in brass gives a view of the glowing embers inside. A fan motor, controlled by a variable rheostat gives a wide range of fan speeds. It also has a automatic stoker with a hopper that holds 110 pounds of coal.

Stove can be wired to an electronic thermostat and vents through the back or top.
