Bathtubs: Slip into this

Rosemary Thornton, contributing editor
Victorian charmerThe Marlborough is a French double slipper tub made of Englishcast -- a white, composite mineral crystal material. The solid core construction of the piece makes it impervious to surface marring and chipping.

The tub weighs a scant 145 pounds and costs $2,750 (July 2004). Manufacturer Decorum says that Englishcast retains heat better than cast iron tubs. Faucets must be floor or wall mounted. Matching faucets run $860 to $1,180, depending on finish.
