Hand Tools: Tiger claw with pry bar

Scott Gibson, contributing editor
Victorian charmerHeavy pry bars and flat bars are just the ticket for tearing out walls and floors, but theyre overkill for removing door and window casing and delicate trim. The Tiger Claw with Pry Bar from The Japan Woodworker is ideal for this kind of work.

A broad, flat blade at one end can be worked behind trim with light hammer blows and used to remove trim without destroying it. A cats paw on the other end can reach below the surface to dig out small nails.

The tool is only 7-1/2" long, so it doesnt take up much room in a tool bag. The cost in September 2004 was about $14.
