Power Tools: 24-volt cordless circular saw

Scott Gibson, contributing editor
Victorian charmerThis cordless circular saw may not be an outright replacement for a corded saw, but its light weight and maneuverability make up for limited battery run times.

The charger in the 1660K-24 kit brings the battery back to a full charge in one hour. Batteries are interchangeable with other 24-volt Bosch tools. The 6-1/2" blade cuts 2-1/8" at 90 degrees. It's big enough to cut 2x material at a 50-degree bevel.

For installing trim and decking, and for cutting plywood or an occasional rafter tail, this cordless saw is a lot faster and easier to use than a conventional corded saw.

In September 2004, it sold for about $290.
