Looking for a sturdy, ultra-high gloss paint for those heavy traffic areas? DutchLac Brilliant is a marine quality, intensely pigmented, oil-based enamel. According to the manufacturer, it has a mirror-like luminescence and can be used inside or out, for metal or wood. When applied over an existing latex surface, a primer coat is recommended, but DutchLac Brilliant can be applied directly on top of oil-based paints. Light sanding between coats is recommended to produce the highest gloss. One 2.5 liter container covers about 420 square feet and costs $80 (September 2004).
