Circular saws are indispensable building tools, but cutting hardwood plywood, interior doors and other chip-prone materials can be a gamble. Used in conjunction with a lightweight alloy guide, the Festool circular saw makes dead-straight cuts without chipping or marring the work. The guide is backed with strips of rubber so it wont slide on the surface even if its not clamped in place. A zero-clearance rubber guide along one edge helps to prevent chipping. The saw works with an unusual plunge-cutting action, so it can start and stop cuts in the middle of a panel. An adjustable-speed switch allows it to be used on a variety of materials.
