Power Tools: Tool for tight spaces

Scott Gibson, contributing editor
Victorian charmerThis 12-volt cordless drill is different from anything else on the market: A quick-change chuck system allows the standard chuck to be swapped for a right-angle or offset chuck in a matter of seconds. In extremely tight quarters, a hex-driver can be inserted into the head of the tool without any chuck.

The drill comes with a 15-minute charger and two batteries that fit in a plastic case along with two extra chucks (which are sold as accessories). The drill has an unusual balance and handle shape that seems awkward at first, and its expensive ($375 in September 2004). Still, an extremely well designed and versatile tool.
