Protect your lungs from those mysterious dust clouds that escape during old house restoration projects.

This latex-free mask from 3M comes with two HEPA filters (as shown) and protects against dust and mold. Expect to pay about $22 for the mask and about $8 for standards replacement filters (Sept. 2004).

Also available, at about $17 each, are organic vapor cartridges that offer added protection against paint fumes and other odors such as perfumes. Look in retail stores for 3M Model 6291.
