Carpet: Green underfoot

Rosemary Thornton, contributing editor
Victorian charmerNature's Carpet, made from Danish and Australian wool, is a floor-covering designed for chemically-sensitive people who don't want to give up their wall-to-wall carpet. It contains no dyes, no synthetic glue, no stain proofing and no mothproofing. Natural (rubber) latex is used as an adhesive with a jute backing. Wool naturally repels dirt and stains and with regular vacuuming, wool carpets can last 25 years. Prices range from $34 - $58 a square yard (October 2004).
