Hunters Set and Save 110 programmable thermostat is a low-cost option for automatically monitoring most gas, oil and electric heat as well as air conditioning systems (its not compatible with heat pumps).
This model, which operates on two AA batteries, allows separate settings for weekday and weekend periods, four periods per day. Batteries are accessible from the front of the device. The manufacturer claims that using the thermostat can cut energy costs by as much as 33 percent. In October 2004, this model was available for about $28.
