Heaters: Sun-like heat

Victorian charmerEmpires ST-30 infrared heater produces sun-like radiant heat and requires no venting to the outside. The manually controlled model has three settingsfor 6,000, 18,000 or 30,000 BTUs. A thermostatically controlled version is also available. No electricity is required for operation, and the heater can run on either propane or natural gas.

The cabinet measures 24" wide, 6-1/2" deep and 22" high, with minimum clearances to combustible surfaces of 36" above and 8" to the side. An optional blower is available. The heater is equipped with an automatic shutoff and oxygen depletion sensor, according to the manufacturer. Manually controlled models cost $310 in October 2004. A blower kit is another $65.
