Dishwashers: In-sink dishwasher

Rosemary Thornton, contributing editor
Victorian charmerDishwashers require a two-step process in most cases: Transporting the dishes from the table to sink, and then from sink to appliance. With this Briva in-sink dishwasher, once the dishes are in sink, you're done.

The wash cycle requires 50% less water and half the time of a full-sized dishwasher. When it's done, the lid pops up, allowing steam to escape for faster drying. Designed to fit inside a 42" or 48" cabinet, it has room for five place settings and adjustable tines.

When the dishwasher is not in use, you can access the 14" extra deep sink or close the dishwasher's stainless steel top for more work area. Suggested retail price is $1,799 (November 2004).
