Range Hoods: Venting with style

Rosemary Thornton, contributing editor
Victorian charmerAn arched glass canopy combined with a stainless steel housing gives this exhaust hood a stylish, contemporary look, and also makes it easy to clean. Filtration is accomplished with a stainless steel filter and a removable grease cup. Two 20-watt halogen lights under the 36" hood illumine the work area. The exhaust fans are quiet, producing only 1.3 sone on low (400 CFM) and 2.8 on high (600 CFM). (By comparison, a refrigerator compressor produces about one sone of sound.)

A telescoping chimney duct makes installation simpler and adjusts to fit up to 8' ceilings. Price is a little under $800 (November 2004).
