Kitchen Appliances: Honeycomb Cooktop

Rosemary Thornton, contributing editor
Victorian charmerWho says cooktop elements have to be little circles inside a squared top? The Honeycomb Cooktop features hexagon-shaped, flush-fitting elements that are designed to be built into the countertop. These ceramic glass burners can be arranged in a variety of configurations. The matching six-sided control panel has nine power levels, residual heat indicators, child safety lock and an automatic safety cut-off. Each honeycomb-shaped unit measures 12-5/8" by 12-5/8". The control module costs $1,750 and individual elements are $550 - $650 (November 2004).
