Toilets: Egg-cellent toilet

Rosemary Thornton, contributing editor
Victorian charmerLooking somewhat like oversized eggs, this toilet and bidet are the result of a collaborative effort between Scandinavian company Oras (manufacturer of bathroom fixtures) and Italian designer Il Bagno Alessi.

Described by the manufacturer as a "pan-European project" these ceramic fixtures can be mounted on the wall or floor. The toilet lid has an "auto-close" feature, which politely and quietly lowers the seat and lid after use.

This line is part of a suite of bathroom fixtures and accessories, which includes shower stalls, lavatories, towel racks and more. The price for the toilet is about $4,300 (March 2005).
