Historic Wallpapers: Funhouse

Rosemary Thornton, contributing editor
Victorian charmerSilk-screened by hand at a factory in San Francisco, this 1970s wallpaper is a reproduction of mid-century, baby-boomer patterns. Environmentally friendly, water-based inks are used for pigment. The surface is cured to hold up to gentle cleaning.

Lead time is about three weeks and some of these patterns are available in matching upholstery and drapery fabrics. The "Funhouse" wallpaper shown here is $65 per double roll (22" wide by 33' long) and has a straight repeat pattern match. The manufacturer recommends standard vinyl wallpaper paste (March 2005).
