Backsplashes: Splashy backsplash

Rosemary Thornton, contributing editor
Victorian charmerStainless steel backsplashes are popular in both residential and commerical kitchens but can look a a little out of place in a vintage home. These 18-1/2" by 4' panels, fashioned to look like Victorian-era tin ceiling tiles, fit neatly between countertops and cabinet bottoms.

According to the manufacturer, the panels should be installed over 1/4" plywood substrate.

They're heat resistant (up to 1,350 degrees) and clean up with soap and water.

  • Staineless Steel Panels (backsplash)
  • Price: $69.50 per panel (September 2005).
