House Numbers: Numbers on the Wall

Rosemary Thornton, contributing editor
Victorian charmerThese house numbers might be the perfect finishing touch for a southwestern style home. Each tile is made by artists in Spain using the "Cuerda Seca" technique for applying colors and glaze. The glaze is applied to the tile with a syringe and when fired, the glaze beads up giving the tile depth and boldness.

Designed for outside use, the numbers can be mounted with mortar or mastic.

  • Spanish Ceramic House Numbers, 8AT75152-2-5, are about $15 each (February 2006).
  • Dimensions: 5.9" long by 2.9" wide
