A mere 8" tall, this miniature lamp probably served as a nightlight in the last years of the 19th century. Such lamps were also known as "courting lamps" because of the soft light they produced.
According to the company selling this original fixture, this piece is a functioning kerosene lamp. The globe and base are opalescent blue satin drape.
