Flooring: Chestnut Remilled

Victorian charmerIn the early 1900s, a blight killed off most of the chestnut trees in America, but this Connecticut-based woodworking shop offers chestnut flooring, salvaged from old buildings and remilled.

The butt-edge boards are random lengths and widths, averaging 2' to 12' long and 3" to 12" wide.

For an additional fee, the boards can be milled into tongue and groove.

  • Resawn Chestnut Flooring starts at $12.50 per square foot (May 2006).
  • Dimensions: 3" to 12" wide, 2' to 12' feet long.
