Woodwork: Veneer Inlay

Rosemary Thornton, contributing editor
Victorian charmerDelicate wooden inlays bespeak the hand of a craftsman, toiling with precision to create a fine peice of furniture.

If you're not such an artisan, you can get a little help with this preassambled veneer inlay. Choose from dozens of patterns in a wide array of shapes, each of which are 1/28" thick.

To install, create a depression a little deeper than the inlay, apply glue and insert. A final sanding makes the inlay flush with the wood surface.

  • Veneer Inlays start at $13 (August 2006).
  • Inlays are 4" diameter and up.
