Cement Siding: Slate Look

Rosemary Thornton, contributing editor
Victorian charmerThe slate blocks on this house aren't really slate or blocks, but 5/8"-thick tiles made of high density concrete. Each tile has built-in galvanized hangers which are screwed into a wooden substrate (3/8" minimum).

The urethane-based caulk used on joints is topcoated with sand to mimic the look of mortar.

The product is intended for new or existing buildings.

  • Slate Tiles measure 12" x 18".
  • The manufacturer was contacted but would not provide prices.
