Hurricane shutters can make the difference in a bad storm between a home's destruction and its escape with little or no damage. Commercial hurricane shutters range from reasonably inexpensive steel panels all the way up to units with automated, self-closing mechanisms. Experts note, by the way, that the practice of  taping windows does little or nothing to protect them from breaking during a hurricane.
