Georgian Style Home
The owners of this Georgian-style home, built in the mid-20th century, loved contemporary style but felt it didnt fit the time period of their house. The designer felt that the Biedermeier styles aesthetic beauty offered the perfect blend of traditional styling and contemporary flair.
The layout needed to include a large array of appliances, ample table space, a wet bar and a television cabinet facing the family room. The designer concealed the microwave, coffee machine and steam oven behind bi-folding, retractable doors. The hood becomes an architectural element, and the refrigerator and television cabinet appear to be large armoires.
The homeowners preferred a formal antique-style table that complements their furniture.
This kitchen earned a first-place award in the medium kitchen category of the National Kitchen and Bath Association's 2003 Design Competition
