Proper copper
These homeowners had a long list of requests in this master suite bathroom remodel. They wanted a corner-installed whirlpool tub, full shower with rainhead, water closet with bidet, dressing area, separate vanities with vessel sinks, tall storage and a complete closet.
Designers opened the walls between the bath and bedroom to allow more flow and created a strong design enhanced by materials. The floor and walls are tiled in a copper slate with inserts of mosaic basket weave tile pieces. The vanity mirrors are encased in a full-wall copper slate border. To help keep the space open, the shower is all window from midway to the top.
The lighting scheme, an important part of this project, carries through the bath, closet and bedroom.
This room earned a first-place award in the master suite/bathroom category of the National Kitchen and Bath Association's 2003 Design Competition.
