Our next finalist in the Old House Blogger Contest is bringing a Herron-Morton Four-Square back to life.
Haily, of Haily and Eric, submitted a post called The Possum Next Door wherein she discusses the joys of renovating a house in a historic neighborhood while living next door to a home that is falling apart whose owner spends her time “picking up leaves, helicopter seeds, and blades of grass from her lawn–individually. While bent over at the waist and wearing a house coat.”
For now she and Eric are putting out traps to catch the possum living in her neighbor’s crumbling soffit, but what she’d really like to do is call the city and force them to step in.
Says Haley: “I take no joy in being ‘that person’–anyone who lives in a historic district knows at least one person who has way too much time on his or her hands and goes around reporting people for minor issues.”
Here’s a picture of the exterior of Haily and Eric’s house. Visit their blog to see photos of the interior and lots of before and after photos.
