It came down to the wire! Again, I have to say how impressed we were by the quality of the submissions we received for this little blogging contest. We’re excited to announce the winner of the Old House Web blogger contest is:
Elaine and Dylan Vitone, the Fighting Friars of Home Renovation, are renovating their 1920s Pittsburgh home, “one do-it-yourself disaster at a time.” Elaine blogs about the joys and struggles of renovating their old home, and both Elaine and Dylan take photos.
The winning post captured the DIY lifestyle with candor and creativity. But what really made Elaine’s post stand out was her great sense of humor and her fluent, easy writing style. Judging by the votes and the traffic to her post, we weren’t alone in our opinion.
After reading her contest entry on Bless This DIY Mess, we found ourselves reading her other posts, looking through the renovation photo album, and an hour later, wishing we could see the house in person. Check out her funny post celebrating one ubiquitous part of remodeling: dust. Congratulations Bless This DIY Mess. They’re the winners of a $250 Lowe’s gift certificate and Elaine will have the opportunity to become a paid contributor to the Old House Blog.
AND, because the level of blogmanship was so high, we’ve also decided to award gift certificates to two of our other favorites:
The DIY Diva
We loved both her post about crown molding, and her spunk. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: she is awesome.
Oh Apostrophe
She has a great attitude and a lot of work ahead of her. We look forward to reading more from this “silly Northern girl” as she stumbles happily along.
Both Oh Apostrophe and the DIY Diva will receive $100 gift certificates to Lowe’s.
Congratulations to all of our wonderful finalists and to everyone who voted. We plan to run another blogging contest in the future so to all you home bloggers out there, please stay tuned and consider entering one of your posts next time around.
