I have heard that wind chimes work. We're going to pick up at least 2 sets. It may also drive the neighbors away -- hey, kill 2 birds with one stone! Ha!

Re: Bats!
Last year when we had the house bat proofed, the bat guy sealed up 60% of the holes and left 40% covered with “escape netting†(my term, not his!) that allowed the bats to exit our house, but not return. Then 2-3 weeks later, he returned and sealed all of the holes. We were convinced that the ba...

Bats!
OK, so 'tis the season for the flying critters. UGH! We ended up with 2 last night. Here's the deal, both my husband and I CANNOT deal with them. Bats are fine outside, but not inside. After 3 in the house last year, we had our house "bat proofed" (to the tune of $1,200). Around January we did have ...

I just have to say that we ordered 3 fixtures from Rejuvination and LOVE them. Very good quality and beautiful! We now receive their catalog at home and I love looking at the different fixtures. You can't go wrong with Rejuvination!

Re: Value of our homes and the cost of heating oil...
Hey Diane! We actually have a gas boiler - so, we are already running on natural gas rather than oil. It is old, which is why we are considering going with a boiler with a pump. Our bills this winter were $600+ per month. (NOT on budget). We keep the temp at 55 degrees during the day and 65 when we ...

Re: Value of our homes and the cost of heating oil...
I have worried about that, as well. We had an energy auditor perform an assessment of our home and there isn't a whole lot that we can do to lower our bills. We are putting more insulation in our attic and are considering replacing our old boiler. But, our house is large (3 stories, 6,000 square fee...

Re: Can I see your new kitchens?
You know, that wallpaper is both old fashioned and cutting edge. Wallpaper is back, and so are a lot of traditional patterns, even in very modern interiors. I have to say, the wallpaper is CRYING OUT for a collection of jadeware in the glass cabinets. I KNOW!!!! I need help! We moved in a year ago ...

Re: Can I see your new kitchens?
Here is our kitchen (not the best pictures). Our house is a 1919 craftsman. The PO did this kitchen, but I wouldn't change a thing! An Amish craftsman made the cabinets and table in the nook area. Don't mind my dog! http://i215.photobucket.com/albums/cc11/1919house/Kitchen1.jpg http://i215.photobuck...

Re: OUr new slate floor
Beautiful floor -- I love it! Nice job. We had slate in our kitchen (in our last house). I loved it! But, I would suggest that you seal it. The PO did not seal and it was FILTHY when we moved in. I had a professional come in and power wash it 2 times and then seal. No problems! I didn't find it diff...
