Re: First old house after college! (pics)
Yep- you're right! The original door was covered in plywood inside, and had a storm in front of it outside. I may eventually put up an antique storm door, but I like it as it is for now... Oh and this specific crank doorbell is new to the door, but I discovered originally the door had one, and they ...

It's been a while since I've been on here, but figured I would share some updates! I moved into the parsonage this past summer, and have been working on it ever since :)... A nonstop project for sure... It took quite a while to empty the parsonage of my friend's things (it was storage for them), but...

Re: Historic preservation - before & after photos
To be honest, I'm not convinced that the old 1999 photo (with the boxier porch) is the original porch. It could be that that replaced the original front porch. The current front porch seems to be an attempt to get closer to what would have been there originally. Do you have any evidence that the box...

Angolito- yep- the Wagner House. I still have a love affair with that house, but its not lookin' so good :(. I actually got a chance to speak with the owner (who wasn't anything like the image I had heard from soo many people... oh well....little towns talk). He was actually very nice, just very rec...

First old house after college! (pics)
Hey everyone, I haven't posted here in a good while, but I lurk now and then...whenever I have a chance and am not being consumed by all things architecture!.. (I'm a 4th year architecture/preservation student at UMD). I'm going to be graduating in May, and am really excited because I've just finali...

Re: Webster Wagner House- is there anything I can do?
Drivin' up to Upstate NY Halloween weekend to visit my best friend (which is another story since she's saving an abandoned church near Fort Plain, and turning it into her home!) I'll make a point to stop by and check in on the Wagner House as usual...just to make sure it's still there.. (its in the ...

Re: Webster Wagner House- is there anything I can do?
Pqtex, At the time of taking pictures we did not know if anyone was living in the house- we found it hard to believe it was liveable, and assumed it was abandoned. The house is right up against a road, so besides walking up and knocking on the door we stayed off the property (the side pictures were ...

Re: The Search Begins... advice?
It's sort of the dining room/entry...part of the counter lifts up as well...there was a bunch of fabric rolls in the attic, and part of me wonders if it was somehow related to that? Oh, and I feel like it's before the turn of the century...the light and plumbing fixtures (and probably kitchen cupboa...

Re: More abandoned houses (From wagner thread)
What beautiful houses- I really love that first one! How odd they're all in the same otherwise cared-for area... I wonder what condition the interior is in both...

Re: Webster Wagner House- is there anything I can do?
I suppose you're right...sometimes I just worry so much about these special properties rotting away! And this one is on the verge of not being saveable already...and it's so special... I wasn't sure what declaring it unstable would actually do, but of course if demolition was that likely (which make...
