Re: Anyone know anything about this style home?

I would say your home started out as an Italianate and is older than 1900, more 1870's perhaps. The staircase screams Italianate as does the double door opening and arched window openings.

Re: Craftsman or not?

Even the DR built-in is the same. I wonder if it's a kit home or possibly close to the OP's location (same area architect)? Too many details are exactly the same between the two homes... That's why I thought I'd show her the house, in case she didn't know about it (the other house is probably 20-30...

Re: Insulation

Lazy? After spending 10+ hours most days on my blog, finding homes to post, etc., I find that laughable. In any case, if you have a problem with my site, this isn't the place to get into it. Good luck Brian, keep us posted on if you decide to buy this home. I think it's cute and would loved to see ...

Re: Insulation

Thanks for the work, ...but..... I would think that if you are this passionate and want to share the info, then maybe make a some kind of statement, like you did on the cape cod house, that you believe the house to be wrongly dated. And when someone points out that the house is wrongly dated then d...

Re: Insulation

That website that you linked to is quite annoying in the fact that there are quite a few houses that claim these early dates that just are NOT. It's unfortunate to see the misrepresentation on these homes. I mean a car dealer can't be selling a what he advertises as a 51 Bel Air and it really being...

Re: HGTV must die!

I've not even peeked at HGTV (it really should be HDTV for Home Depot TV!) in over a year. After watching a silly home owner rip apart her 1920's black/white tiled bathroom with cast iron tub to be replaced with ugly brown (faux?) stone tiles and a spa tub, that was the end of it. I always, always, ...

Criminal restoration?

I looked around to see if anyone else had posted this, if they have then my apologies. We should flood the mayor, the building department, city council with emails of support for this home owner. It's ridiculous what she is having to go through, just to restore an old home. http://1914foursquare.blo...

Re: Mid-Century, Um, Mid-Centuriness

That kitchen is gorgeous, save for some of the ugliest tiles in the world on the floor. I can just imagine replacing them with something more appropriate, and "downgrading" the appliances to some vintage goodies.

Re: totaly speechless

I see houses like that often, all painted white with white carpet. I don't understand it, other than they were too lazy to fix whatever they were trying to cover up. And HGTV has everyone brainwashed into thinking they need to paint everything 'neutral' because buyers are all stupid. Maybe they pain...
