Re: wavyglass.org
Try again. I got that message for a few days. I think they were going through an update or something. It's a clean site.

Re: Air Circulation in Old House
I'm going to say that $30,000 is too much, especially if the house is one story and small. I also live in Texas and live in a 100 year old farmhouse. After I acquired my family homestead, I upgraded from knob and tube a mishmash of patched in/added lines to 200 amp service. Keep in mind that my hous...

Re: What are these stones in our yard?
When I thought of the dinner triangle, I didn't think that was where it had been located, but just hung up there on the post for a matter of convenience. It probably was mounted on some other post or support. Or in our case, we have one that isn't mounted. I just pick it up and use it, then hook it ...

Re: What are these stones in our yard?
I agree with Diane about the gateposts. I wondered if the triangle was part of a latch system that would hook over the gate to keep it closed but I think it's a triangle dinner bell for calling your family/farmhands in for dinner. Just needs the clanger/striker rod to make the sound.

Re: Old floor advice
I saw this link to World of Tile on Retro Renovation's facebook page. http://retrorenovation.com/2011/07/10/world-of-tile-the-single-most-important-discovery-on-retro-renovation-yet-120-photos/ I'm not sure if they carry what you're looking for, but it might be a good source to check out. Good luck....

I would be tickled pink to find that lovely floor beneath everything! How lucky you are. I think you will be able to repair missing tiles. Keep showing your progress.

Re: 1902 Farmouse
I don't know where you live, and costs will vary by location. I'm in Southeast Texas and my 2000 sq foot, single story 1913 vernacular farmhouse was totally rewired in 2006. It had all knob and tube wiring, 4 window air conditioners. It was brought up to code and totally rewired with 200 amp service...

Re: Need help identifying the animal motifs on these wrought
I'm wondering if it is a unique set, handmade by the craftsman, for this specific home?
