They probably used the roll type vent, which can be easily crushed when nailing the shingles onto it. They should use the baffle type (hard plastic). Another common problem is that they forget to cut the underlay. Do you have adequate soffit venting?

A bit more progress today with the end wall. It's been windy and cold so it wasn't much fun handling material. In retrospect I wish I went with board siding. More expensive for sure, but sturdier and we would be able to install it from the inside for the most part.

Same situation for me, the cabinets were installed and ended up a couple inches too close to the door. I think my kitchen sink was separately drained from the septic system at one point (or there was an outhouse instead of a septic system). The clay pipe may be drainage or an old weeping tile.
