Re: My latest purchase. Not what you might be expecting....

I'm with Jade. The casual, almost celebratory, nature with which some folks in this thread are talking about shooting people... it hurts me, greatly. I'm glad things have stayed civil, too. But I am absolutely demolished emotionally by this thread. Part of me wishes I'd never read it, or commented a...

Re: My latest purchase. Not what you might be expecting....

Please speak for yourself, Kat . I'm a woman and I rarely if ever think about rape. And I have actually been sexually assaulted, so it's not like I'm living in a dream world. Also, with the proper training, women can learn how to evade and escape even a large man. Not in every situation, of course. ...

Re: My latest purchase. Not what you might be expecting....

no piece of property is worth a human being's life ^^^ I agree with this, but I don't think that the OP here is saying "don't steal my stuff, I'll kill you", rather it's a deterrant (sp?). It's also bodily protection - in the event that some sorry excuse for a human being decides they'd like to kid...

Re: Anyone used milk paint over latex? Or the new Safe Paint?

Thanks, Mary ! I think this is the encouragement I need to try Safe Paint. They don't do samples...but it's also pretty cheap for a pint (or whatever small size they have). So...on to the internets to order! PS-- I love your dining room light. With the birds and the hearts, it seems very Pennsylvani...

Re: Had another contractor in...even more confused Help!

I really don't trust anyone who suggests that replacing an existing structure is the best idea. If that contractor broke his finger, would he cut it off and get a prosthetic?!

Ok, so that's not *exactly* the same situation. But I think you get my drift!

Anyone used milk paint over latex? Or the new Safe Paint?

I've got an upstairs closet that hasn't been painted in forever. It's a gorgeous peacock blue-green. I got an SW sample in a very very close match, and I hate it. I've tried about seven other sample paint colors on various walls in my house. I hate them all. It's taken me a while to realize that wha...

Re: JRC's Nightmare on Elm Street (lots of pictures)

I've been able to leave SmartStrip with plastic wrap on it for over 48 hours. I think it very much depends on things like weather, temperature, type of paint being stripped, how much you glop on in the first place, etc. So, I don't want to assure you that this will work in your case! I've also found...

Re: Kitchen Disasters - DIY Show

So very, very frustrating. I've tried to stop watching tv all together. Cause it just makes my blood boil.

I find that I have such very different priorities than so many people around me. TV just makes it that much more apparent.
