Nice job!
Isn't it amazing what a difference lighting can make?

My two favorite quick fixes:

Replacing the annoying buzzzzzzing flourescent fixture about the kitchen sink and finally getting the sconces up in the bathroom (the PO lived with clip-on desk lamps for a decade???).

Ok, maybe I'm a nut, but whenever someone has an old-house issue that involves moisture the first thing that pops to mind is "marine grade". I grew up on the coast and married into sailing family so perhaps I'm a bit biased.I also have a penchant for "re-purposing" things. Google "marine grade windo...

A note from a fellow "shorty". I'm 5'2". We have a microwave over the stove (came with the house) and a counter-top model. The counter top model is used 10X more often. I don't know about you, but when I'm cooking (and I love to cook!) I've often got all burners firing, plus I used the micro to defr...

"When new home owners visit my old house, the one feature they are most likely to comment on is... The doors ("they don't make doors like this anymore!"), the leaded glass windows ("how do you clean those?") and the vaulted/beamed ceiling. Kids tend to be impressed with our balcony, the laundry chu...

That is so romanitc. Reminds me of "It's aWonderful Life".

Book Review Time :D (I'm a library junkie). Just picked up Country Living's "The Perfect Kitchen" by Alexandra Parsons. I too check out all of the kitchen reno magazines and books. After looking at page after page of either "country French" or super- modern stainless, my eyes just start to glaze ove...

Angolito, Thanks for your recipes; not too long winded at all. Dip is a great idea. I may go hummus, or I may take it in a more "Tuscan" direction. Will have to see how the rest of the menu plays out. You really got my gears spinning 8) The cocktail wieners are a ~great~ idea. I'm a veggie, so I don...
