Plastrr, would you please explain veneer plaster or lime and gauging? Are these something you can get anywhere (like Lowe's or Home Depot)? I am interested in not having to sand. I am tired of plaster dust all over the house! Thanks for any advice.

We bought our house in St. Joseph, Mo, in 1985, in a local historic district. Later the neighborhood was placed on the national register. We only paid $12,500 for the house. I always thought it would do a lot of damage to put a stair lift on my stairs, but yours doesn't look like much damage was done. Good news for us oldies!
