Dishwasher Install in 1920 Kitchen
We are lucky enough to have the original cabinets, built in place, in our 1920 kitchen. We would very much like to install a dishwasher but have discovered that our cabinets are only 21 1/4" deep while a dishwasher's installed depth is 24". Anyone else run into this problem and have a solution that ...

Re: Opinions on Dining Room Light Fixture
It's 4 feet long and the shade is 22 inches across. As for the style question, we have furniture of all eras including a couple of pieces that my uncle built in the arts and crafts style but with crazy woods so the whole house has a pretty eclectic style. I'm not concerned about that so much as the ...

Opinions on Dining Room Light Fixture
So we're finally talking about putting an appropriate light fixture in the dining room. We have pretty simple tastes and so don't want a full blown chandelier. Also, the ceiling in this room was our very first drywall project and you can see a lot of imperfections so we don't want a lot of direct li...

Re: Let's See Those Dining Rooms!
We have kind of a mix of everything in ours...mostly stemware and books though. We only have one bookshelf and a huge appetite for books and since this built in is way too big for us to fill with show pieces, it seemed like a good compromise. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2357/2514926846_30cf6d52ca...

Re: House alarm quandry
Our alarm is two barking dogs that are set off by absolutely anything. Not that much fun we're here but a great comfort while we're gone. They also spend much of the day out in the yard, one of them barking at passers-by so the whole neighborhood is well aware that they're here. That doesn't help us...

Re: Vacations - highly recommended
Congratulations! What a great way to spend your vacation! We're taking a few days in August for our anniversary to spend some quality time together...and maybe we'll work on the house.

Re: My Finished Bathroom
What a great looking bathroom! Would you mind sharing the dimensions of your bathroom? It looks identical to ours in layout but "feels" so much bigger. Just curious if my tiny bathroom can feel that big.

Re: Woo hoo, I'm getting electrified
Right now we just have a dimmer in the living room and it's wonderful . The room is pretty big so to light it up well takes major wattage however, we only want it fully lit a few times a year so the dimmer lets us turn on the sconces and light some candles and get mood lighting in addition to full, ...
