Lurman Estate part 1
A few months ago I got an opportunity to look around the Lurman house (1886) & jumped at the chance. This house was once part of the Lurman estate, which stretched across much of Catonsville, MD. The last family who lived here donated it to the local school system to be used for special needs children, however, the narrow stairwells weren't wheelchair accessible. So, they used the house for a special education office, until a few years ago when they moved everyone into the carriage house. It needs a lot of work, but you can still tell that it was once (and still is) spectacular. It has a beautiful library, an abratraium, a billards room, a ballroom, marble fireplaces in almost every room, etc.
If only I were a millionaire- I'd LOVE to restore this place!
