Hi
I live in the UK and believe that my house is originally from the USA. According to what we have been told it was one of the first houses sold at the Ideal Home Exhibition in London in 1908 or 1910, apparently shipped over from the states. It has been changed over the years quite a bit, the original central doorway has been moved to the side of the house. The original verandah at the front has been removed. I have also been told that originally it was much more ornate when first erected.
I think from looking on the web, that the house was possibly a folk victorian syle but i would really like to understand what it would of been like. The front half of the house is set 3ft higher than the back half of the house. Three floor levels with originally a flight of stairs running up the centre of the house. 4 rooms on the ground floor, 4 rooms on the first floor, 2 upper rooms with dormer windows at the rear. Curved bay window on ground floor on one side with stained glass panels (original?) three sided bay sash window on the other. Fancy woodwork to the front eave. Straight brick chimneys to either side of the house.
Any help would be much appreciated,
Darren
