house support/raising

Post by Jack & Diann Brow »

We have a 100 yr old home that has sunk on one end, and sags in the middle of that end. Looking for anyone who has already done this and/or knows how properly. Question: Can we use cement bricks on top of red brick floor to support the jacks with or do we HAVE to pour 4000# pressure type of cement footings to do it with?

For lasting success, you'd want to make sure that any footings are resting on solid, undisturbed soil with a solid footing that adequately spreads the load of the new columns. In all likelihood, this means you'd want to create new footings for the new posts.
