Thanks for the link. My home is fairly modern for it's period and this might shed some light on how things were done.

I think it interesting that even a "Modern Cottage" had servant call buttons in all the major rooms even the bath!

I wonder if hte term cottage was more romantic than discriptive. It might have referred ot anything other than a mansion, estate, townhouse or similar.

Amazing. Today we have outlets all over the place but never where one needs them. Can you imagine what it must have been like to have electricity and indoor plumbing arrive at your house. These days my 6 year old granddaughter thinks of iPhones as just an everyday event, like breathing.

Think men on online dating services are dodgy

We've all been aware of the bad behaviour of men who date online: The single ones just out for casual sex, The 'successful businessmen' who evolved into minicab drivers and the 'spontaneous risk takers' who are, the fact is, crashes bores.

But as it is reported that one in every five partnerships now begins via the web, Four men turn the tables and reveal to Antonia Hoyle their often hilarious encounters with women looking for love.

Carleton brown, 55, Is a divorced private chef from Chilham, Kent. there are two sons, good old 11 and ten.

My date had the same dark blonde hair as her profile photo had advocated and her facial features were similar.

But the flesh she was plain and dumpy, Not sylph like and totally, And as soon as I spotted her expecting me in a bar in Canterbury for our first date in January 2010, It was clear she had doctored her drawing.

Incensed, I moved up to her and roared 'You're not tall and thin!' before storming proper out again.

rough? truly. still, By that point, I'd been online dating for two years and had been told one lie too many.

it wasn't to be the last either. When a good looking cafe owner I met later that year flashed her stockings while mingle2 login cooking me roast lamb at her pretty house a few miles away, I was entranced.

Carleton smith, 55, Received various old sexual advances

The lamb was left uneaten. But after influencing me, She accepted she was not 55, As she'd said, remember, though, but 60.

'All women lie about what their age is online to get men's interest,' she unleashed.

different person bit the dust. If a woman was prepared to lie so early on in our intimate, It didn't have a future.

I've been truthful. I began online dating services six months after my wife Christabel and I separated five years ago. It seemed far more convenient than using the lonely hearts columns and I felt I was too old to chat up women in bars and clubs.

I stated clearly on my guide 'my past is part of me' because Christabel and I remain great friends.

We enjoy regular Sunday lunches together and if there's someone I'm considering endorsed and most credible our sons to, Christabel who's been with a new boyfriend over the past two years will meet her first.

Do my dates sense danger? probably. My longest relationship was with Alison, A 50 something lending broker I met online in July 2010. But I was torn between haning out with Alison and seeing my boys.

After two months or even years, She terminated it, Saying she didn't feel like a just right part of my life. For the first two years of dating on the internet, I fell to a dating service run by one national newspaper. But the women on it just seemed involved with sex.

my corporation is no prude, But I was dismayed. When I said I wanted her to leave she looked taken aback, As if I needs been turned on. Men are often lambasted for sexual negligence with women they meet online, But most women, surely, Are by far the permissive gender.

For the previous couple of months, I have been seeing a chef my age I met on the spot. she will be, to put it bluntly, crazy. in advance we even met, She admitted she'd come to snoop along with windows of my house to check I was above board. Nor are my children overly in love with her.

Once she threw their clothes out of the window in a bizarre attempt to be laugh. cater to say, I find a future with her.

But I may keep searching. My Mrs Right must be out there somewhere and the facts suggest that if I keep looking online, we'll find her.
