More SPAM protection -- new post approval

Post by ohwadmin »

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to let you know that we've added a new level of SPAM protection, posts by new users must be approved before they appear on the boards. To the new users: sorry we had to add this extra layer of protection, the spammers have been relentless. We apologize ahead of time for the delay between the time you post, and the time your post appears on the board.

Older members, you will not be affected by this change.

Best,

OHW Admin

Hmmmm...not sure it worked. I don't have any need for Hermes or Vuitton in my old house. Lots of spam today.

Too bad the spam got so bad. Some of us have been spending time at the new community for folks with a love of old houses at wavyglass.org

Hi Pqtex,

Could you provide links to the spam you found?

Thanks!

It looks as though you have now dealt with it, as one of them posted right behind me on this thread, and it is now gone. For a few days there, all forums were inundated by the hermes/vuitton guy. I know it's a pain for you, too, and I really do appreciate your efforts, but it is pretty discouraging to me to see the continued spam.

Your spam protection isn't working.

Hi everyone. We upgraded a section of the site which caused our SPAM upgrades to revert and our boards were hit by an aggressive spammer. We took care of the issue quickly and deleted the spam posts. The boards are spam free again. Thanks!

Its pretty good. For now its a necessity because people don't want to write their own stuff they just information from anywhere and put it on into another place.

This is good thing. because number of spammers increase in day by day
so i think its a good idea to some how control the spammers.
