I don't smoke marijuana and don't have a very positive opinion of it, but it definitely is much, MUCH more benign than meth. There are normal people who smoke cannabis, but even the ones which have problems in their lives because of it will quickly get back on their feet if they stop.
Meth addicts, on the other hand... These people really sink deep when they start consuming that drug, which takes a serious toll on their bodies and minds. Even if they stop, they'll stay a grotesque caricature of their former self for a long time, and will have serious issues living a normal life.
