I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right place, but it seemed as good as any.
I joined the site as my wife and I just bought a home that was, I think, originally built in the late 1920's. It's had a lot of adds ons throughout it's life. It went from an 800sqft cottage to a 2700sqft home. It has lots of quirks and weirdnesses that fit us well. Our previous home was a later build, so I didn't have any of the issues I'm going to be taking care of. I'm also interested in checking out everyone else's homes, updates, projects, etc. There's something about an older home that you don't get with new builds. Everything today is a cookie cutter.
I'll use the search feature to try and find answers to my questions, but below are the things I need to work on that I hope to find help with in this forum:
1.) Asbestos removal (I will have professionally done, but need a good contact)
2.) Reglaze windows
3.) Refinishing wooden double pane windows, and ensuring a good seal.
4.) FIxing up and ensuring a good water proof/seal on the wood siding detached garage
I'm sure more will pop up as we get settled and begin making the house a home.

Hey,
I guess I don't need to create a separate introductory thread for myself. I'm Alex, nice to meet you all. I'm here to get some tips for maintaining our old house. Also, I'm trying to renovate it.
