They were easy to track down. I was hoping I'd find the original gravestones from the 1920s era but I was disappointed to see that they had been replaced recently. I'm not sure if they were vandalized or otherwise damaged beyond repair, or if there is a descendant around here who decided to replace them. Nobody maintains them regularly (or at all), so I make sure they're tidy. Not sure if that's weird or not. lol

... you begin dating someone who is pretty darn amazing on so many levels, who owns a fantastic 1920's duplex with beautiful original and unpainted woodwork, and who has done some great work on that house and the several other old houses that she owns as investment/rental properties, and the only relationship red-flag is that she plans to replace instead of repair a bunch of the [very leaky] windows, and you're just not sure you could ever get serious with someone who would do that.
(and for those who know me, yes, I'm going through a brutally ugly divorce, but I'm doing great overall and I'M keeping the house!)

I know that feeling about windows... sometimes you even cringe if you'd replace those windows yourself. Maybe it's something about control.

You're watching a show about women on death row, and as they're showing actual crime scene photos....you hit pause ...

I started an entire category on my blog for "crime scene houses" so I could display historic pics of notorious old houses! Some of the best pictures we have of old houses are police photos from crimescenes!!

...the first question people excitedly ask you when you tell them where you live is: "Is it haunted?"
And your response is: "maybe"

... you have a date planned with someone who seems really wonderfully compatible in many delightful ways, but you're more excited about and impressed by the fact that she has years of contractor/construction experience and once did nothing but drywall and plaster for six months with an old-school plasterer who taught her all the tricks and that she still enjoys doing all that kind of stuff, than by the fact that she's now a physician.
edited to add: Laughing from realizing that my last post was about someone I was dating. But yeah, I could never take someone seriously who could so easily discuss ripping out woodwork and windows of that quality.
