Does Someone Know What These Could Be

We have a house that was built in the 1908. Under the eaves on one corner of the house are these white cleat looking things. Does anyone know what they are and why they would be there?

glass insulators screwed to them and it served as the point of entry for the electric wires. Somewhere in the vicinity will be holes that may be plugged up in the house for them to pass through
