We have a length of wooden trim on the corner of my staircase extending from the floor about 3/4 way up the wall. For reference, the house was built c.1900, American Foursquare style, been remodeled so many times that it's hard to believe there's anything original left. Has anyone seen something like this before, or know why it's there? The adjacent goes to a powder room (but may have originally been the basement stairs).
Thanks! This is my first time posting on this forum but I'm sure it won't be my last, trying to preserve as much as I can of this beautiful house.
