We just purchased my mother's 1928 bungalow home. Stripped off 2 layers of wallpaper from the living room walls. While patching some of the small holes under the wallpaper we discovered the wall has less then 1/8 inch sheathing over 1x4 tongue and groove. It's very thin, it seems to have a smooth surface but the back of it almost fuzzy in nature, almost like really, and very sturdy. Any idea what this might be? It's all over the house. We demo'd the bathroom and it was in there as well. Crazy stuff. It also doesn't appear to be secured my nails, or screws.
