Outlet? in original 1920's era home, what is it?

Post by mattt »

My home is an old house from the early to mid 1920's. It is largely original, especially when it comes to electrical. This outlet is in a sun room at the front of the house. Does anyone recognize this outlet type? I'd like to know what it was for and if it is an original type outlet from a by-gone era? What sort of thing plugged into this?

Thank you in advance.

How can I edit the picture so it's just frame size and not oversized, as it shows right now? I tried editing this thread last week and then it disappeared for over a week in "moderation."
